KickStart are a power trio from Milano, Italy, and they play original hard rock style songs, influenced by great artists like Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Slash’s Snakepit, Led Zeppelin, Pride & Glory, Rush.
They also play a large repertory of hard rock and rock’n’roll covers: Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, ZZ Top, Guns n’ Roses, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Steppenwolf and many more.
Born in 1994, they passed through many line-up and monicker changes.
A 6 musicians line-up in the beginning, they turned to 5 later on.
During the high school's years they play in many clubs and in the most important high schools parties in Milano. In this period they also take part in one of the first crossover projects in Milano together with rapper Justine Romano (actress for some TV broadcasts).
With the name of “Round’n’Round” they take part in “The Ancient Mariner” album in ’98 with the folk singer Giordano Dall’Armellina; the CD sells more than 4000 copies in Italy.
Immediately after, founder guitarist Brandon Fung leaves the band for a medieval music project.
In ’99 singer Marco Andrini joins the band, but later on he leaves for his solo career (he releases his single song “Scricciolo” in 2000 for Warner Bros).
After this change the three guys turn the page: they change the monicker into KickStart and decide to carry on as a trio to avoid more line-up changes that may slacken the band’s evolution.
With this line up they record a demo CD in 2000 called “Demo Y2K” (positively reviewed by Flash Magazine and TUTTO Musica) and begin an intense live activity. They tour in many clubs in Northern Italy area: Rolling Stone, Rainbow, Indian’s Saloon, Transilvania Live, Blueshouse and many more.
During their gigs the audience is always struck by their great energy and entertaining skill that turns their concerts into great shows.
During this period they are invited to radio broadcasts (Radio Lupo Solitario, Kristall Radio), and one of their exhibitions is transmitted by the TV channel Antenna 3. They are even included in a Special Review about glam/street Italian scene on the magazine Metal Hammer.
In june 2002 they play in Genova at “Rock Your Bones Fest”, with Paul Di’ Anno (former Iron Maiden singer), former Thin Lizzy Darren Wharton’s Dare, and Stramonio. Their exhibition is positively reviewed by many magazines such as Rock Hard, Flash and Metal Force, and they are compared to Zakk Wylde’s Pride & Glory (former guitarist of Ozzy Osbourne’s band).
In 2003 the new CD entitled “fuel” is released, which features 7 original tracks, one cover (“Born to be Wild”) and a video clip including extracts from live performances. This CD has the purpose to let a wider audience know KickStart, and to obtain a deal with a record label.
